This resource can be paired with the book Pizza with Everything on It. Read the story, build a silly pizza, and use each topping as an opportunity to practice target sounds in a meaningful, playful context.
Rather than simply saying the same word five or ten times, Pizza Artic encourages children to change how they say it. Practice targets with different intonation, pitch, stress, volume, and emotional inflection—say it excited, confused, surprised, serious, high, low, or like a question. These small changes increase the variability of practice while the child maintains the target speech movement.
The included clinician/parent education pages also show how to progress from:
word → phrase → sentence → prosodic variation → spontaneous language
The goal isn’t only, “Can you say this picture correctly?” It’s “Can you use this sound when you’re actually communicating?”
